X-Y-Z Art

How art is getting too big for its boots.

Modern Art is not a massive hit with the average person on the street anymore. And you only have to look at works by a few ‘artists’ who have won The Turner Prize to realise why. It does seem that today’s painters are merely out to shock rather than to create proper works of art…

Of course, there are bound to be a few individuals who are ready to argue with this; there always are. But the long and the short of it is that the majority of ‘ordinary’ people like to know what they are looking at when they visit an art gallery!

Art from the heart

Art and work

One of the great things about art is that it can be enjoyed by everyone, no matter what their background or their ability. Unlike some jobs, such as engineering or medicine, the arts are open to everyone of any skill level or knowledge level. Sure, if you can’t draw a straight line you’re unlikely to end up with your own exhibition, but you’ll still be able to enjoy the creative process yourself, or even appreciate the work of others.

Arts and Crafts that are Made Specifically for the Elderly

posted by admin in Uncategorized

The image had been locked in to an antiquated variant of projects for the elderly: these folks have been relegated to cutting out construction paper Holiday tree chains and Valentine’s, dvd duplication, creating doilies, and fussing along with clay or paints. Perhaps projects for the seniors were looked at as siblings to projects for the mentally questioned, or possibly projects for the seniors meant–since seniors were finishing the circle of living and returning to regressed stages–that simply those which youngsters were permitted to handle seemed to be acceptable for the individuals in an elder treatment facility.

You know what? Times have transformed along with individuals, and projects for the aging adults are a lot more “advanced”… they’re, as well, as diverse in the medium and meaning and level of skill as the folks are. Indeed, our elders continue to be offered the choices of pipe cleaners as well as papier-mache, however they are also asked to continue just what they performed when they had been younger. A few elders even now work as jewelers, creating jewelry, for example, while some even now crochet, knit, or quilt. Quite a few enjoy carefully detailed needlepoint. Other people sew. Elders produce clocks, construct birdhouses, and craft workshop items including dolls and toys.

Plus why can’t projects for the seniors likewise incorporate arts for the seniors? My mom paints in oils plus watercolors; my buddy who is retired restores collectibles. Various other elders I’ve worked with in memoir-writing courses have carried on to write plus produce their own books (the actual hand sewn kind) but also have published their own memoirs utilizing small presses. Additionally, a few have created planters plus plant terrariums, while other people have done decoupage in addition to wood-burning projects which have yielded family trees, poetry, plus photographs as honors and gifts for his or her loved ones.

Additional possibilities of homemade projects for the aged consist of (but are never restricted to) hand-made cards, photos, plus posters; crafts and art kits; weaving; ceramic; baking as well as non-cooking pursuits; horticulture; gift ideas or baskets (ranging from edible bouquets to dream catchers); mini models and sets (vehicles, trucks, and airplanes); etchings (in metal or on tiles); scrap booking; science projects; painting with sands; paper dolls; 3D sculptures and botanical.

Given, those with incapacitating conditions or psychological deterioration won’t be able to or have desire for gold-flaking the ceiling. However many of our so-called elders continue to be as active and involved as they ever had been, so that they need not be limited by our idea of projects hour in the recreational room. The concept is that the seniors should still do just what they would, just what they like to do, plus what ever they can perform to keep their brains and spirits healthy plus happy. In the event that that means rejecting a popsicle stick for the paintbrush, all the greater!

Sexuality in Art and Music

I was doing a red diesel Halifax comparison when a friend of mine who is into art stopped by home recent and we started talking about sexuality in art and music. Here I share some of what we discovered.

While sexuality has been a taboo subject in recent times, this was not always so. Sexuality has been celebrated since ancient times in art (paintings, sculpture, and ceramics), literature, and music.

I saw the advertisement in a shop display and I couldn’t resist: a giant Viking puppet girl helping visitors discover the Wirral sounded like the perfect marriage between art and fun. Provincial Galleries

One of the things that I love about going to see contemporary art outside of London is not just the frantic internet searches for ostelli Londra, but the effort that is made by the curators to make the art accessible to the general public. The Blue coat in Liverpool is an excellent example of this trend in ’Provincial'galleries. It does host some travelling shows, and curates others. The visual art is firmly placed with in the ’contemporary'paradigm. Yet, the More

Make your own art

It’s not as difficult as it sounds, you know. I’m not going to pretend that I’ve ever created anything in the privacy of my home that could hang on the walls of the Louvre or even be sold for a few quid, but it’s good fun and is a very cheap way to decorate your home! After all, in this age of “make do and mend”, with companies like Enigin PLC trying to More
