The Best of Movie Poster Artwork

Nowadays, the developed film industry is somehow unsatisfactory when it comes to movie posters. What is happening with the colour, with the drawings, with the expression of glory and uniqueness of the movie? Now it is all about the one photo of the movie character in action -that is all that the producers give us and, unfortunately, all that we expect. This is why the site for the best artwork in the movie business in being dominated by older movies and productions (http://www.tccandler.com/columns/100_greatest_movie_posters.htm) which shows that actually there has been a time where people actually cared about the poster of the movie they are gonna watch.
My personal favourite of all posters in the site is #17 -Metropolis. The golden colour with black lines somehow gives me the impression of glory. I have not seen the movie I must say, but after seeing the cover I ordered it immediately. It is the cover that makes me want to watch it -it is somehow unique, looks more like a picture drawn by all of the artists of the future, like there are so many skills put into that single poster that it is hard for me to believe a single artist can draw that piece of art. The sharpness and the angles of the buildings from the background, their prolonged shapes are somehow underlining the plot of the movie and the robot presented in the front as a main idea on the picture looks completely in contrast -the oval shape of his head and half-body illustrated are giving the viewer a completely different idea -somehow contrasting to the sharp edges of the buildings. And the letters -the look sharper than the buildings, more like lightenings rather than latin letters.
So this is why older movies were really something special -only the cover art is enough to impress you… you are ready to buy the product only by judging the unique piece of art called a poster.
