Art and work

One of the great things about art is that it can be enjoyed by everyone, no matter what their background or their ability. Unlike some jobs, such as engineering or medicine, the arts are open to everyone of any skill level or knowledge level. Sure, if you can’t draw a straight line you’re unlikely to end up with your own exhibition, but you’ll still be able to enjoy the creative process yourself, or even appreciate the work of others.
Art can be enjoyed from anywhere in the world, no matter what you do for your day job. English teacher jobs, for example, offer the perfect opportunity for exploring art. You can have your students examine how art is depicted in literature, or even have your students write creative or reflective pieces about famous works of art. You can also have your students look at biographies of artists so that they can expand their horizons while learning valuable English skills as well.
Even better, you’ll be doing the same: you’ll be learning on the job! The same is true for others in all walks of the business world, so don’t be afraid of incorporating art into your life. Whether you simply pin up a postcard or print next to your desk, or whether you take time out at lunch to sketch the tree across the road or to do a still life of your lunch, you’ll be all the better off for it. Art is everywhere, after all: you just have to reach out and grab it.
